What is the #1 Cause of Disability? Arthritis!

If you don’t already have it, I am sure you have at least heard of the #1 cause of disability nationwide, Arthritis.   Recently, my own body has been progressing through its own arthritic attack.

My family background consists of just about every type of arthritic condition known to man.  Problem is, I’m not sure which one is plotting their attack on me next!

There have been some minor Arthritic threats knocking on my door occasionally in the past.  But it seems everyday now I am affected even more and more.  Whether it spawned from an active event or simply put, its just my aging body, it definitely created a definite weight I will carry around for the rest of my life.  From simple things like getting out of bed in the morning to doing stuff around the house, I just don’t function how I used to.  This led my curiosity astray into research mode.

TYPES OF ARTHRITIS

Degenerative Arthritis
, also known as Osteoarthritis, is the most common type that affects the cartilage of your joints, and as time progresses it can eventually wear down your cartilage to nothing leaving bone-to-bone contact that increases your chronic joint pain to a stand still in the end. Causes of this disease can be traced back to family history, age, race, previous injuries and even excessive weight. To combat the onset of this disease your best option is to always stay active, avoiding injuries and repetitive motions, and always maintain a healthy weight.

Inflammatory Arthritis is a unique type and generates when your immune system in your body produces inflammation to prevent or fight off infection or disease. But sometimes instead of fighting these infections in can mistake joints, internal organs, and eyes as well as many other parts of the body.

Rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis are the most common types of inflammatory arthritis. Your family genetics and many environmental factors can trigger these types of arthritis and can rapidly take over if not properly medicated with DMARDs.

Infectious Arthritis is when a virus or fungus enters the joint and has the ability to cause inflammation. These organisms can infect our bodies through common infections and contaminations. Like hepatitis, STDs, and food poisoning, these infections have the ability to attack your joints if not treated properly with antibiotics in a timely matter.
