Top 5 Homeopathic Pain Killers

Unfortunately pain is something that everyone will experience in life.  While pain is uncomfortable, it can actually be a good thing and there are homeopathic pain killers that can be taken to provide you with safe natural pain relief that is non narcotic.

When you have pain, what you are really experiencing is your body sending you a signal that something is wrong.  Imagine if you had a ruptured disc in your back (ok I’m feeling the pain just thinking about it!) and you were just walking around all day going about your every day responsibilities…working, exercising etc.  If you didn’t have any pain, you would not know something was really wrong. Pain is your natural defense against being injured for the long haul.

Pharmaceutical drugs have a host of harmful side effects so opting to take homeopathic pain killers when you are hurting is a wise choice.  I know after I had my foot surgery I decided against pharmaceutical drugs and chose the homeopathic route.  Boy, I’m glad I did.

Below is a list of pain killers that are not new to homeopathic care and are effective for many interested in using homeopathic pain killers:

Arnica is effective at treating arthritis, muscle sprains and strains, and bruises.  Arnica is an herb that’s derived from a yellow flower grown in European mountains.  Arnica can be applied topically in gel form or taken orally with another homeopathic treatment.
Curcumin is a excellent because it helps to prevent and reduce inflammation.  Curcumin should be taken in capsule form with an enzyme called bromelain because your body absorbs it better.  Bromelain is also an anti-inflammatory agent and is used by many doctors to treat pain caused by arthritis.  When I was experiencing signs of rheumatoid and I told my doctor that I didn’t want to take medicine, she recommended Bromelain.
Devil’s claw fights pain and inflammation but you have to be careful with this one if you have stomach problems.  Devil’s claw is actually a fruit that’s found in South Africa and has been used to help reduce back and arthritis pain.
Feverfew is an age old homeopathic pain killer and works wonders at relieving headaches, arthritis pain and minor pain.  Feverfew is not only a natural pain killer but it has also been proven to stop headaches and migraines from creeping up.  Anyone with headaches should try this alternative pain reliever.
Frankincense is known for its ability to treat chronic inflammatory pain in conditions such as arthritis.  This herb helps to greatly reduce pain associated with minor injuries as well.

Homeopathic pain killers are your safe option for reducing and even eliminating mild to chronic pain because they are non narcotic.  Even though taking certain herbs may have some side effects for different people, those side effects are much less harmful than those you get from taking pharmaceutical drugs.  As with anything, you should exercise caution and do your homework when deciding to take homeopathic pain killers.

Natural Home Remedies For Gout Arthritis Pain

Gout Arthritis can be very painful and some people have described it as walking on glass.  This said, treating gout is two fold.  You want to eliminate the source or reason why you get gout and reduce the pain by taking things that will naturally reduce inflammation in the joints and areas that are affected.  In this article, I am going to go over some natural home remedies to treat gout pain.

Fish Oil – Personally, I recommend eating your cold water fish (cod, mackerel, herring, sardines, salmon, ect.) to get your omega 3’s but since most prefer fried fish or don’t like fish at all, you can always opt for fish oil, either in liquid form or in capsules.  Frankly, I have not found a better food than cold water fish that will help with inflammation in joints.  Fish oil is good for all types of arthritis…even metabolic arthritis aka gout.
Quercitin is another natural anti-inflammatory that can be used to reduce the pain that gout causes.  Once again, I suggest eating the foods that are high in quercetin such as capers (which are great on salmon by the way), apples, organic tomatoes, green leafy vegetables and berries (all types).  That said, you can find quercetin in health food stores like whole foods grocery in capsule form.
Cayenne Pepper – Cayenne pepper has a huge amount of other health benefits but it works very well for reducing inflammation.  Use it as a topical aid.  Mix a little pepper with some vinegar, bring to a boil and let it cool.  Then dab it on the affected areas.  If this seems too much for you, you can also buy Capsicum cream from your grocery.
Turmeric powder – Chinese and Ayurvedic cultures have been using the things that they cook with as herbal remedies for common ailments for thousands of years.  Turmeric is reportedly a powerful anti-flammatory spice that will help reduce overall inflammation in the body.

These are just a few of the natural home remedies for gout arthritis.  The reality is that there are tons of options that you have to help prevent gout pain that don’t require doctor administered medication, which I don’t recommend.  Try some of these suggestions out to see if it helps…

Home Remedies For Tmj – Conquer Your Pain

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ, is a condition that causes the joints of the jaw to ‘freeze’ so that it can be painful and difficult to eat or speak. The most common symptoms of TMJ include facial swelling along the side of your face, painful chewing, pain in your ears, difficulty moving your jaw, stiffness, and headaches. If you suffer from any of these symptoms you should see your doctor right away. There are several home remedies for TMJ that can help solve the problem and get rid of the pain and discomfort.

TMJ has many causes such as grinding your teeth when you are sleeping, poorly done dental work, your genetic makeup, as well as some bone problems. Very often people who are under a lot of stress will suffer from TMJ since they are the most prone to grinding their teeth while they are sleeping. For this reason something as simple as some relaxation techniques may help them relax so they don’t grind their teeth and their TMJ symptoms will go away.

For others it may take a little more in order to get relief and you should talk to your doctor before you try any type of herbal remedies since they can have a bad interaction with prescription or over the counter medications you may already be taking.

Here are some easy to use home treatments for TMJ:

1. Try eating more fresh fruits, whole grains, low fat chicken and fish, garlic, eggs, and brown rice. These foods can help reduce inflammation which can lessen your TMJ symptoms. Also by eating softer foods you aren’t straining your jaws as much as you would if you were eating harder, more ‘chewy’ foods.

2. Using herbal remedies that have been shown to help relieve stress can help you too. Try these herbs: passionflower, catnip, valerian, nettle, St. Johs’s Wort, and chamomile. Many of these can be brewed into a relaxing cup of tea.

3. To help lessen the pain use a hot pack or a heating pad. Just place it on the sore spot for a few minutes.

4. If you tend to sleep on your side try to re-train yourself to sleep on your back. When you sleep on your side it’s easier for your jaw to fall out of alignment. If you need to you can use some small pillows or a pair of socks placed next to your head so that you don’t roll over onto your side during the night.

5. Try various stress relieving exercises such as yoga to help you relax. Again, stress can be one of the biggest causes of TMJ so the more stress free you can become the less likelihood of having any symptoms. Not only can lessening your stress relieve your TMJ symptoms, it can also have many other positive health benefits.

Many people can use one or more of these home remedies for tmj and find relief. Just make sure to talk to your doctor before you use any herbal supplements. You can get some relief from this painful condition just keep trying different things until you find the one that works best for you.

Staying active is the best way to prevent and cure knee pain. But be careful when choosing what activities you engage yourself in because too much exertion of the knee muscles and joints can make the pain become worse. Workout your knees in a regular basis but make sure not to over use them.

Target muscle groups particularly those that support the knee area. Strengthening these muscles will help in reducing the risk for knee injuries. For people who sit around all day in the office or at home, the usual problem is with the calves. Work these muscles out together with the hamstring and the quads as well.

Knee pain can be a result of obesity, so if you are heavy, burn some fats and lose weight to avoid damaging your knees. Even strong knee muscles can grow weak eventually after carrying a heavy load for a long time. Aim for a healthy weight through proper diet and moderate exercises.

Wearing improper footwear can prove harmful not only to your feet but to your knees as well. Women especially have a higher risk for knee pain as a result of improper footwear since most of them use high-heeled shoes. It’s okay to use high-heeled shoes from time to time but wearing them almost every day can be quite harmful even to the spinal column. So whatever activity you are engaging yourself in, make sure to wear cushioned shoes to prevent knee pains.

Natural Remedies For Back Pain

It seems almost everyone experiences lower back pain at some point in their lives.  It can be contributed to all sorts of problems from muscle strain, stress, a previous injury, lifting too much weight, aging, osteoporosis, herniated disc or even a tumor.  It is important to find out what is causing the back pain by your primary care physician, however, here are some natural remedies to consider before your next doctor’s appointment.

1.  YOGA – is one of the best ways to alleviate or eliminate pain in the back as well as the entire body.  The postures in Yoga, called Asana, are designed to make space in the body without struggle.  Struggle is the opposite of yoga and even if you arrive at your yoga class feeling anxious or stressed out, you will walk out of class feeling relaxed, calm and pain-free.  It is so important to be consistent with your Yoga practice to reap the endless health benefits of better sleep, weight loss, a sense of well-being and reduced back pain.

2.  Vitamin D3 – chronic muscle pain can be a symptom of a Vitamin D deficiency.  Vitamin D is found in fortified milk and many cereals, however, you do not want to consume too much, if at all, of those products to get your Vitamin D.  Your body will produce Vitamin D when exposed to sunlight so you should spend 15 minutes a day in the sun if you can.  Depending on where you live, this might be a little difficult so it is a good idea to supplement with Vitamin D3.

If you are deficient in Vitamin D, you may experience:

– digestive disorder like celiac disease and you should avoid gluten- a protein found in wheat products

– allergies

– difficulty with medications

– a lack of sunshine, especially in northern climates so it is important to supplement with Vitamin D3 daily.  Make sure the label reads D3.

3.  Music Therapy – is a great, low cost, effective way to reduce disability, anxiety, and depression that often comes with chronic pain.  You will be amazed how effective music is when it comes to relaxing the entire body including the lower back.

4.  Capsaicin Cream – Capsaicin is the active ingredient found in chili peppers and if you have ever eaten a chili pepper and experienced the burn in your mouth, then you know capsaicin can create some heat.  Capsaicin patches are available at your local health food store or pharmacy.  When you apply them to your skin or to your low back area, the capsaicin in the patch depletes substance P – a neurochemical that transmits the pain and causes an analgesic effect in the low back area or wherever you place the patch.

5.  Acupuncture – Many people do very well with acupuncture treatments and report reduced pain and are less likely to use pain medications because it works so well.  How does it work?  According to Chinese medicine, pain results from blocked energy along energy pathways of the body.

The needles help to unblock the pain when inserted along these energy pathways.  A treatment generally costs between $ 60 – $ 100 and some insurance plans do pay for acupuncture.  You need to plan on going 3 times per week initially to see results.

It is important to do all you can reduce your lower back pain naturally to avoid the endless side effects of pain-relievers that eventually quit working for you.  Try some of the natural remedies listed above and you may be surprised how quickly you can reduce or eliminate lower back pain without surgery.  I wish you a pain-free life – always!

7 Home Remedies For Gout Pain

The best home remedies for gout are actually ones that our parents and older relatives used to use. In order to relieve gout pain (and suffering), products were used that could be easily found right at home. As medical science and research touted new treatments, these home remedies fell out of favor. Unfortunately, the ‘latest and greatest’ remedies have not offered much better relief than the tried and true methods. So now- we have come full circle in that we are once again going back to treating gout with once popular home remedies which are making a comeback.

1) Apply ice to the affected area
Apply ice (either an ice pack or the real thing) directly to the painful swollen joints for about 10-15 minutes. Note that the feeling of the ice might make the pain feel worse initially, but after a few minutes, you will feel some relief to the pain of gout.

2) Take Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory that can help to ease the pain in the affected joints. Make sure that you follow the directions on the bottle and do not exceed the recommended 24-hour dosage.

3) Exercise the inflamed joints
Believe it or not, this does help. Go through a full range of motion a couple of times/day. For example, if your toe is affected, try to move the toe in a circular motion.

4) Epsom Salt Baths
If your pain is concentrated in one of your toes (usually the big) or ankle, you can create an Epsom salt bathe to sooth your aching muscles. The magnesium in the salts is an effective home remedy for gout and provides benefits to your heart as well as improving circulation, lowering blood pressure and flushing toxins from your body. It is also a great stress reliever and can provide some immediate relief from excruciating gout pain.

5) Eat Foods To Help To Reduce Inflammation From Gout
Eating fresh strawberries can help to neutralize the uric acid build-up in your body. The high concentration of vitamin C as well as other ingredients such as zinc, calcium, iron, manganese and potassium area are all beneficial to your body. Nuts are also a good choice. In addition, eating cherries (either fresh if they are in season or cherry juice) helps to reduce the uric-acid level buildup in your joints. Foods such as leafy greens, green peppers, tomatoes, berries and citrus fruits all contain high amounts of Vitamin C which can help to reduce inflammation from gout. Drinking water will aid you in diluting the uric acid levels as well as flushing away toxins. Drink at least 8-10 8-ounce glasses each day for best results.

6)Exercise regularly
Regular exercise can help to prevent or relieve joint pain. It is good for joint cartilage nourishment and helps the body in the removal of waste. In addition, exercise works to strengthen the muscles that surround the joints.

7) Apple Cider Vinegar Remedy
This is a great home remedy for gout relief. Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 2 tbsp of honey. You can opt for organic apple cider vinegar or honey if you can find it at the store. Apply the mixture to the affected area a couple of times per day.
